Enka
Has any of you guys heard of the word Enka, or even listened to it?
Well, most certainly, some of you have, right?
For those who haven't, well, Enka is a Japanese music genre. 17th century gave birth to this genre; and it boomed in the Showa Era—1926-1989—but eventually became evanescent as the world approached the modern age.

Enkas are mostly about love, loneliness, despair, filial love etc. Often times, Enkas are coated with and inundated in poignant, caliginous and bleak tones, harmonies and words that yield a very heavy and weighty feeling—just like Dog Man Star, though in a very different way for Enkas do not sound like Suede's tunes. But one exceptional fact that makes an Enka different from all the other music genres is the voice singing it, and how that voice sings it. It is sang in a very unique way; in a beautiful and eerie tremulous, and subtle and modest yodeling way. (Phew.)

Unfortunately, the music is incapable of easily suiting the mass' palate, let alone, an individual's. It's not as accessible as Black Sabbath, Korn, Metallica, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, The Smiths or Guns 'N' Roses...and the irony is, it adds to its ravish...or maybe it just really sucks. Nothing but fucked up stuffs, no? LOL.

Anyway, one of the few prominent Enka singers is Hibari Misora who was hailed as the Queen of Enka and Queen of Showa. My favorite Enka was also sung by her: Hibari no Satojowa. You lot should give it a try...
...I think.

These are the only ones I can find in YouTube, but they're quite brilliant too. And, Enkas don't necessarily have to have little speeches or discourses; some don't have one.

I wish to find a kindred soul.
Ciao.
